Is Desert Riding Season here yet?

The heydays of the Toy Hauler Forum are definitely a thing of the past now, but there are still a handful of old-timers around.

Is anybody around today who attended any of the So Cal Rallies? We had yearly rallies starting in 2004 until our group got too big and the BLM told us they'd shut us down the following year if we didn't have permits and portable toilets.

After that, we still kept the tradition alive with the "Notta Rallies" (they were "not a rally") for another five years or so. Those were some great years.

Those rallies signified the official start of the riding season every Veterans Day, and then we'd ride through April or May depending on the heat.

So is anybody heading out to the desert to ride yet? It's pretty early in the season, but we're itchy to get out and get together with our bigger groups. We haven't seen most of our group since the start of COVID. Folks are eager to go out, so we'll go sweat and choke on the smoke from the wildfires.
  • It's here, just spent a great weekend in the Randsburg area.
  • Well, I have a toyhauler more or less ready to go.

    Almost finished harvest work.

    Love campin in the desert.

But I present myself at the US border to cross legally so no can do at the moment.
  • Never did the rallies, we are more of a 3-8 trailer type of family. Our group is down to 2 families now would love to hook up with others.

I am going to Kennedy Meadows next weekend and then might do OW Halloween weekend, your welcome to join.
  • Dune season is right around the corner!!!!
Once highs get closer to 90, I am there!!!!!!
  • Our off rode club was hit up too by the BLM about not having a permit and Porta Potties we just said at the time we (just) all meet each other in the Dez and their were a small handful at the tine that had "Toyhaulers" and some had toilets!

You made it to AGW though.

We'll be across the highway in Dove Springs, so we won't be in your way.

Good luck with your race. Stay cool.
  • Our big event is this weekend in Ridgecrest. Was out last weekend setting up, heading back out tomorrow through Monday for the event. We anticipate 2,000 racers in two days. Come on out to Desert Empire Fairgrounds this weekend and witness the last of the classic Grand Prix. No other club puts on a race on a temporary circuit like we do.

Our event more or less kicks off the second half of the desert racing season.

Never made it to a rally.
