Your right, they all have come a long way but to have the attitude that you need to get a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton and that will solve all your problems is just wrong.... How about 2011 Dodges just for example.

Ram 3500 SLT, 6.7 -liter, crew cab, long bed, 4WD, 3.42:1 axle, A/T, DRW 9,200
Like any truck for towing or hauling,it has to be picked out because just any 1/2-3/4 or 1 ton isn't going to cut it and you can tell that by all the overloaded 3/4 tons with giant fifth wheels....
