Your right, they all have come a long way but to have the attitude that you need to get a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton and that will solve all your problems is just wrong.... How about 2011 Dodges just for example.Ram 2500 SLT, 5.7 -liter V8, Mega cab, short bed, 4WD 3.73:1 axle, A/T 8,150Ram 3500 SLT, 6.7 -liter, crew cab, long bed, 4WD, 3.42:1 axle, A/T, DRW 9,200
Like any truck for towing or hauling,it has to be picked out because just any 1/2-3/4 or 1 ton isn't going to cut it and you can tell that by all the overloaded 3/4 tons with giant fifth wheels....
Alright, I'm going to back out of this one, No attitude here about which truck does what, but it appears you have the attitude., you seem to have selective reading comprehension...not talking brand war's or hating on 1/2 tons as it appears you want to be argumentative. Read the facts from the OP, that is what this post is all about...so if you think his 2012 1500 can safely and easily tow a 10,000# 5er, then tell him how safe it is..We're not talking Ford, or Ram we're talking about the OP's truck and the 5er he want's to get.
I have no idea what your talking about on the Dodge trucks...where did that come from and why???? Sounds like you just want to argue for arguing sake.
...your beef is with 2500's overloaded evidently, or at least that seems what your post is getting at, or brand beating and going after specific gearing....where did all that come from?
