A half ton truck is just a car with a big trunk. They are the eunuchs of the truck family. I would be embarrassed to drive one, let alone pull something with it. They are barely adequate for hauling much more than your purse and make up.
:p
A year ago my wife and I embarked on around the U.S.A. trip. I pulled a 28 foot 5,500 pound travel trailer 8,000 miles in 8 months. I put another 12,000 miles on my truck touring. My truck was a 2011 Silverado half-ton with the 5.3 motor. I had ZERO ISSUES with either the truck or travel trailer, not even as much as a flat tire running "China Bombs".
According to you and others on this board I did the impossible.
I hardly think that is impossible. Half tons can be great tow vehicles for travel trailers the weight of yours. To be fair, this topic is about fifth wheels and half tons (150/1500). TT are far more half ton friendly than fivers in most cases, since TT has about 10% hitch weight and fivers about 20% pin weight. Some small fivers can be properly towed by SOME heavier half tons, but the manufacturers do stretch the truth a little on their advertising.
