Don't know which way you went on this deal, but I can share our experience.
We purchased our first RV in June of this year (2017). We bought new as we had no idea where to start with any renovation or repair. We purchased a 2017 Greywolf 26RL and hit the road. We took about 4 trips with that, and found we loved the people, the freedom and relaxation. We have some diet restrictions that pulling a kitchen with us resolved.
As the end of the summer approached I got a bug and walked through a few new 5th wheels while the shop did some warrantee work. I'm not knocking the Greywolf, but it was an entry level unit, and I felt it was not built to last. (I may be wrong, but eh?) I wandered into a 2018 Rockwood 2650WS and liked it. Chatted with the sales guy and he shot me a price. As usual, the trade value was substantially lower than my initial cost (like cars, these depreciate as soon as your wheels leave their lot) I knew I would take a hit, but the Grewolf would never be worth more than it was then. I shopped around a little and beat it by $4K, plus we wanted a dinette and not table and chairs which was in stock. Bottom line, he gave be $2500 MORE than I paid for the Greywolf, swapped out the dinette with from another unit and threw in a free 5th wheel hitch.
Lesson learned? Huge profit margin in the RV world, find a dealer you like and give him your return business, and don't be shy about haggling. By the way, it helps to be a cash buyer. I am far from wealthy, but had enough bank to make it happen.
