Jayco Eagle and f250 puller questions....a few

We have logged many miles on our Jayco Eagle 33.5 RETS in the past 3 years....yellowstone, glacier, and rushmore from Albuq. First off I must say that the sales talk about dedicated Amish folks building these by hand is total BS...workmanship and details are **** on this rig. I have replaced almost every screw in the cabin and re-nailed all the moulding...that being said, we love the floor plan, so we suck it up...2 year warranty stuff (many items) was dedicated to bigger (drunk amish??) issues.
I digress....I do have some legit questions. I had 2 (both sides unfortunately) blowouts on this last trip. No damage beyond the wheel fenders and some bent metal, thank goodness. I have replaced the wheel wells, but noticed yesterday 2 random (white) wires hanging from the axle area. They look like they are part of brake system and at the end of the line (I can follow the others through all 4 wheels, and they end at this wheel). Any ideas what I should do?? Cap them? Unite them? I can get a pic if need be.
2nd question is about the f250. It seems to really sag in the back end when hooked up. The trailer is level and really rides nicely, but that back end sag looks really ugly on a nice truck! Should I get airbags? I think that the trailer level is more important than the truck.
BTW....if you have a slider hitch, use it...got careless (day of 2nd blowout, I was tired after a long day) and blew out my back driver window...great end to a great dsy!!! Thanks all!!
  • Firestone air bags have worked well for me on 2008 & 2015 F250 2WD trucks. 10 lbs empty & 30 lbs loaded with 2018 Cedar Creek 34RE.
  • Had Firestone bag's on my Titan towing my 26' outback...they worked awesome. Was my first thought.
  • "I think that the trailer level is more important than the truck."

Doesn't your TV rear end sage indicate weight on front tires is light? If light isn't braking compromised? Steering too? IMO one out of two level is unacceptable and not just for looks.
  • Without seeing a pic, it likely is brake wires, maybe damaged from blowout. If so, they need to be reconnected so the brakes will operate. There are several easy ways to test the brake operation of each wheel.

As to the sagging 250, most 250s sit level when empty, due to only having a 2" block under the springs. So with a load on the rear axle, it can appear to be sagging more than a 350, which has a 4" inch block to raise bed higher than level, when empty. You could change to the 4" blocks, or use bags to level, if needed. Your right, it is great to tow a FW level, rather than nose-high.

  • Looked online, and think I will upgrade blocks to 4" and replace shocks as well...have them in the amazon cart, just waiting for wife to OK the "one click".
  • I put a set of Timbrens on my F250 14 years ago and truck and 5er are level. No leaks no adjusting air pressure and under $200 and about a 1/2 hour DIY.
