Jayco eagle HT 27.5 RLTS

We have been looking for a new 5 wheel and have been considering the Jayco Eagle HT 27.5 RLTS. Anyone have an Eagle HT and can shed any light. As always thanks for your input.

  • 2015 Eagle HT 28.5 we just love it only problem we had was front cap fade witch was a issue they had for about a year. But all covered under warranty had it repainted and was only gone 4 days and warranty service is super easy. We have about 11,000 miles and 135 days in our rig in the last year and three month's. So it has been well tested so far.
  • We have a 2016 rlts. It seems ok as you know it s not a high end unit but so far so good. We have had some warranty work done. Our fresh water tank would drain substantially while driving. Our propane tank door would not stay shut on the highway driving at 60 mph, the outdoor shower you could not plug in the quick connect hose, part of one of the decals was missing, the rear wall and roof trim on the outside was not good and the furnace access panel would fall out every time we traveled. They fixed those items under warranty though it took 6 months from beginning to end. Not sure how much of that time was Jayco dragging their feet or Camping World dragging their feet but felt it was unacceptable either way, they both threw each other under the bus. The work was done to my satisfaction so far anyway. The only real issue I have had since is the bathroom fan is a poor design. It is supposed to be a rain proof design so that you can run it in the rain. Well we used it maybe 5 times and the cover broke. IT has some plastic hinges on it for lack of a better term to open and closed the cover. Well it rained one day we were out and it started leaking pretty good. One side the "hinge" portion was completely missing and the other side it cracked the whole length. After my previous experience with Camping World I just replaced it myself with a fantastic vent fan that is a different design. I didn't want it replaced under warranty with the same poor design. Well come to find out there are apparently quite a few doing that and they are being replaced with a different fan from what I have read on a couple of forums. So I may have been a bit hasty in not wanting to go back to CW for warranty work but I still saved at least two trips 50 miles each way and having to take off work to get there before they closed and was able to use the trailer. However other than those items so far the trailer has been good we have been pleased with it. It tows well, based on some unscientific observations via my tpms that I added to the tires that also monitor temps it seems to be fairly well balanced as the tire temps are within 1 or 2 degrees both front to rear and side to side, variations seemingly only dependent on which side the sun is shining on. It has plenty of room in the kitchen and living area, the bathroom seems fine. The bedroom the sides are a bit tight but no real issue you just have to watch for that short step if you get up in the middle of the night or are still half asleep in the morning. The sofa bed in the living area is not something I would want to sleep on but neither my wife or I will be so it is not an issue for me.
  • we have a 2014 27.5 rlts slide and window seals only problem in 2 years recliners are a pain to put in place for slide movement
  • We own a 2012 HT 26.5 RLS and I think the 27.5 is somewhat like ours, based on the floorpans I have looked at. On our RLS we have to move the swivel chair next to the slide-out since the area for the chair is not long enough for the slide to bypass it when coming in. I think that problem has been fixed with the 27.5. Other than that, we have really enjoyed ours so far in four seasons of camping. Plenty of room and with the rear living, the tv, when you watch it, is directly in front of you so you don't have to crane your neck to watch tv. For the two of us, it's just the right size. One little thing I would change, just haven't yet, is the lack of drawers in the pantry next to the fridge. There are no drawers with a great deal of vertical space with just one shelf. I think the reduces the utility of the pantry. That may not be the case on the 27.5, I haven't looked at one to see.
