I really can't see how supporting the rear stabilizers side to side does anything usefull. I have yet to attach mine to the rear BUT seem like they are more prone to back and forth then side to side movement.
I think the rear stabilizers are more stable side to side than front to back. If you grab the foot when it is half way down and move it, it will move as I describe more fwd/aft vs. side to side.
