Another thought on the AF 29-5. I notice it's a rear entry RV. The first time you park at a site that slopes to the rear of the RV you will discover a problem. When the RV is leveled the first step could be a couple of feet. Been there done that with another brand. Traded for a mid entry and a little longer.
I've had three rear entry trailers and only a few times have rear steps been an issue. If you boondock or dry camp where the parking spurs are dirt then I could see it being an issue. Every state park or RV park I've been to are close to level and the steps are never an issue. FWIW we mostly dry camp in FS campgrounds and even with dirt or gravel spurs it's very rarely ever an issue.
We just went 'docking a couple weeks ago. I was getting cr@p about my "jenga blocks" under my rear stabs. I had to go find an 18" log and cut a 10" round off it to put under my steps. Landing legs were extended so that I only dropped the extensions about 4 holes' worth, unhitched and had to drop the front almost 2' to get level. Only had about 8" more travel in the legs. I go to the same spot every year, so I'm used to it. :-) Only problem I have is that someone always steals my "step", even when I try and hide it.
