When our 1999 F-350 was broken into in 2012... I found out in a hurry that there is a very very easy way to punch a hole next to the lock and open the door. Dozens of F-series trucks were broken into when I googled for information on it.
They didn't get time to drive the truck away... but 3 minutes inside that cab netted them over $3,000 of stuff. 3 bags. My netbook computer, My camera bag and a bag of hubby's tools from the backseat. We were at a very nice mall outside of Chicago. The police were barely bothered by it. Happens all the time.
To the original poster... so sorry for your truck to have been stolen. Very Very sorry.
I'm not sure if Ford ever fixed the problem.. the lock area does not have any steel around that lock/latch. It's a simple little punched hole, they insert something to unlock the lock. You can find out how to do it just by searching YouTube.
