I had a 2004 F350 stolen 2 days after I had added an extra tank (65 gallons), a door-column mounted instrument cluster ($X,XXX), and aftermarket backup floodlights ($XXX).....and after I stopped on the way to work to top everything off for camping.
Given where the truck was at the time, the police told me that 1 of 2 things had happened: in 24 hours, it was parted out or in 24 hours it was well south of the border.
As I had all relevant receipts (and since the truck was stolen in 2004 :(), there wasn't a real argument with the insurance company and I got a check for about 90% of what I paid...but it still took 2 weeks.
One of the worst parts about the incident was that the truck was parked in a company parking garage.... After notifying the security guard, what was their response? To drive the garage in a cart looking for my truck since they were convinced I had simply forgotten where I parked. I'm still PO'd a decade later.
Having a vehicle stolen is no fun.
