Kayak/canoe carrier issue resolved

Just returned from vacation carrying our kayaks over the bed of the truck - found a front receiver that attaches to tow hooks - no welding needed, no need to remove bumper nor fog lights. Bought a t-bar and roof rack. Worked great. Bodiak makes it.
  • I got a response from the new owners of Bodiak this morning. According to them, the original owner decided to retire. Kornegay Fabrication bought the brand and revived it.
  • Curt (http://www.curtmfg.com/) makes some really nice hitches and they don't require welding or bumper removal either. I had a Curt rear hitch on my other truck and currently have one on my RV bumper and they are very nice units.
  • I left a message for the company via their web form, trying to get more information. The product really looks nice and I could get rid of my current receiver hitch which rides below the bumper. But.... I'd really like to know what happened during their disappearance and get a warm fuzzy that it won't happen again.
  • happy kayakers: just found it on-line in April. They disappeared for awhile, I don't know their story. We haul 2 14' perceptions so they can't be stored inside and the t-bar supports them well.
  • Did you get it used? I thought Bodiak dropped off the face of the earth a while ago.
  • We have 2 10' Kayaks and strap them to the Thule roof racks on top of the cab of the truck--seems to work well. In bad and stormy weather the go inside the 5'vr. Lars
