My TT was stolen about 9 months ago and I replaced it with a FW. What do most of you do to lock it down?I'm considering a wheel boot.Also shutting off the batt to make it more effort and time consuming to raise/lower the landing gear.

Never had a problem nor do I do anything special... So counting my self lucky.... Could use one of these :King Pin Lock

I have a TT but have a boot,coupler lock,padlock through the handle, slides out and no battery. If they really want it they will still get it but I will slow them down. (also it is parked in my driveway 75' from the main road).

Short of taking wheels off.........King Pin locking device.Turning your battery disconnect off......screw driver pops open front compartment and switch gets turned back on.Locking Device

Mine is sitting right in my yard thieves would have a heck of a time getting it out. If you're worried about it, take the batteries out all together. You could also put a secret switch in the landing gear circuit, mine already has one altho it's in plain sight I doubt anyone not familiar with Titaniums would figure out what it is. And change those crummy locks out on the basement doors, the ones that use the same key as every other RV in the world. (751 keys?)

You can also wrap some chain around the king-pin and lock that.

I spray painted a piece of pvc drain pipe black. drilled a couple of holes for a padlock. LOOKS indestructible. As a back up my Pullrite has the plate welded on. Any thief will destroy their hitch. But, I agree, if they want it they will get it.

That would work of course but how many of us could handle the weight of the pin box or have the correct tools to remove and replace it and torque the bolts properly.

Someone would have to really know what they are doing to get mine.
I leave it hooked to the truck.
Truck is locked.
Landing gear is down to take the weight off the truck.
Slides are usually out.
Rear stabilizers are down.
Rotochocks are installed.
Doors are locked.
Battery disconnect is shut off.

A car alarm set on the unit is a try, locks and chains are no match for large bolt cutters so either a car alrm or take the tires off it.

I've discussed this issue with dealers and rv people...most seem to feel that this is rather rare...I remember when I first started RV'ing, I went to an RV store to purchase a king pin lock...the guy said he was glad to sell it to me but he'd not heard of stealing 5er's as an issue. But if you want a little security, the king pin lock should help....I'm not sure how they could steal it with a king pin lock on other than with welding tools....and if they want it that bad, they're going to get it.

A friend of mine once told me that the best theft deterrent was a copy of his rv loan payments taped to the hitch.Must work he still has it.
