Keeping a log

I keep a journal mostly for mileage and time to the next stop. I log where we stayed but little detail. Use the mileage for trailer, tire and bearing maintenance and time for if we go again, how long it took.

I take a lot of pictures of the campground but they just end up in the trip pictures.

Start with a lot of detail; you can always reduce it but you can't expand it.

Wife does. She writes down where we stayed, what spot number, meals, weather, fuel, mileage etc. It's her thing and she likes doing it so I'm in. Kinda nice to use for a reference when we want to go back to those places again.

I use an app for tracking milage in all of my vehicles.

And finally, I keep a worksheet for maintenance on the truck (again on Google Docs).

I do NOT keep a worksheet of mods or fixes for the camper itself. I just don't want to know.

I keep a log book of where we traveled to, what highway, how many miles traveled that day, the attractions in the area, where we stayed, price, and a general description of the campground.

We keep a three ring binder set up alphabetic by campground name. It includes site #'s that we like and don't like, who we are with,what we did and the weather. I also include total miles from home to the campground. We've been doing this since 1985, all my friends laugh at me but when they ask questions about previous trips I just pull out "The Captains Log" and read to them.

We keep a simple log on a spreadsheet.

We don't get too detailed.

It is really nice, when we can't remember where we spent thanksgiving 2 years ago, you can pop back to that date and remember exactly.

The wife keeps a written log. MPG is written on the receipts at time of purchase and saved. I take pictures of the trailer in the campsite and imbed text as to where it is. We keep the campground receipts and brochures to help remind when and where. After the first week everything and everyplace becomes a blur, so some sort of recording is a good idea, especially if you are going to be in quite a few spots over an extended period of time.

I just write down which camp ground we went to,mileage up and back for maintenance and how many days there,that's about it.I have a very detailed maintenance log for the truck though,I write down if I wax it! But then again it's an '06 with 36,000 mi.and it's my baby...

I have kept a log/journal since my first truck camper in 1993. I briefly record each trip, where we stay each night, campground cost, any good/bad points about the campground etc. At the end of each trip I record the total mileage for the trip, not individual daily miles or fuel consumption. I also note service items like new tires, gas check etc.
I refer to it quite a lot, for such things as planning how many days to allow for travelling when I'm making reservations, but most of all for keeping a check on how many miles the 5th wheel has done, surprising how this mounts up.
Its interesting looking back over the years and comparing campground prices with todays prices!
