So if a contractor did work on your house like that, it would be OK?
You would attribute it to yourself buying a "cheap" product?
Can't answer that because I wouldn't hire the cheapest contractor for my house. But, if I did, I'd expect work like that. I actually work in housing so your analogy hits home. High volume track home builders regularly turn out crappy work, people piss and moan.... and keep buying.
You want a quality home? Hire a custom builder. You want a quality RV? Buy a Redwood or Mobile Suites or some other high end line.
I just think people have unrealistic expectations. They want perfection at the lowest price point. It's just not going to happen. I completely understood what I was getting with a Keystone and have not been disappointed. Even doing very minimal research before buying one can find RVs at this price point are slapped together quickly and many/most have problems. Expecting anything more is just setting yourself up for frustration.
IMO, a =lot= more people would buy the higher-end RVs if they didn't start out at 35+ feet, and go up from there. Let's see Redwood, MS, DRV, etc., start building smaller towables, in the 30' range, with the same quality as their whales.
Hell, if =one= mfr. would take the bull by the horns, slow production down by a few units/day and pay =timely= and fair warranty claims to their dealers, they could own whatever segment they were in. Dealer profits would also go up because there would be little incentive to discount them if demand were high for that brand.
