As someone that has owned the more expensive kinds there isn't twice the quality comparing Grand Design or similar models over DRV for more than twice the price. Not even close.
Roofs still pull up, plumbings aren't tight, the exterior door latches fall apart because they are cheap **** etc...
The one quality piece we had was the Newmar and even it had an oil leak that took 3 years to track down, the transfer switch blew when the neutral lost contact and blew the AC, W/D etc, we had plumbing issues, ac issues etc.
They all have issues. Some more minor or major than others. If you can't hack that then stay the hell away from them. Spending more money is no panacea. You don't get problem free units the more you spend. In fact after going that route I think you only get screwed as the newer units have all come a long way in matching what only the high end units offered.
The list I'd look at it rather small these days. There are a lot of garbage companies producing poorly designed units. There are also a few good companies producing as well. Regardless, you aren't going to find a perfect unit regardless of who built it or how much you spent.
