Keystone Quality

We have a '14 Montana High Country which for all intents has been trouble free. But with that said, sure there have been a few niggling problems but nothing yet that would make it a negative experience in about 15,000 towed miles. Could Keystone have done better in a few places - sure. It probably should have had 6000 pound axles - but it is in the 5200 pound spec. Should it have had better tires? For sure, but many 6 figure RVs have the same junk Blow Max Bombs. Could Keystone have done a better job with the carpeting - probably, though it is surviving and is probably the same as those noted 6 figure 5ers.

Get what suits you. No matter what brand you choose, there is always the RV that seems to have everything that could go wrong saved up for that particular unit - or vice versa and get the best though most RVs are in the high end of the middle - a few problems, but no big deal

Not to sound ugly but....The Hideout is the lower end of Keystone's 5th line. Comparing the quality of it to a Montana is apples to oranges in my opinion.

We looked at the Keystone but passed based on the quality, we felt it was not justified by the price they were asking.

Montana is definitely a higher trim level than a Hideout so I question if the OP should be basing a purchase on comments that aren't really germaine to his question. It's akin to someone asking about a Chevy Sonic and the Cadillac owners chime in. Yeah, both made by the same company but like the Hideout and Montana, they are all made in separate factories with different workers, management and components.

Our new Montana had only a couple of very small issues taken care of by me upon delivery. The Laredo we bought new in 07 had been flawless up to the day we sold it last year so I have been very happy with Keystone products. I really do think it's a gamble with any brand because you can find horror stories about all of them. Check out the unit you want before signing on the dotted line and you might save yourself some grief.

We are very happy with our 2014 Keystone, Cougar 327 RES.
Like most, other than initial shakedown adjustment, all is well.
Some weakness I) nose cap fading, repainted under warranty II) electronic panel replaced under warranty.
No issues since.

If I was interested in what other think of a certain brand or a model (which I never did) I would go to that brands forums for input from folks with the model you have in mind.
Brand bashing means nothing IMO. I've been on this web for close to thirteen years. In that time the bashers blasted a Fleetwood product....then later it was a Thor product...then later a ..... and same with a truck brand.....you get the idea.

I always pick the unit with the floorplan the wife and I like at the price we could afford and went camping.
I've owned a Skyline/Thor and Fleetwood brand trailers and enjoyed them all.

Not a 5er, but I've owned 1 Dutchmen and 2 different Keystone products now: Springdale and Outback.

We had a Dutchmen Sport for a few years (Thor Industries), but not a "Keystone", but still in the Thor family. It was a very good camper. It had a corner bed that didn't work for us any more. Loved the camper, except for that bed. Very well built.

After a few initial shake-out fixes, we had the Springdale for over 8 years.
Mechanically it was a sound camper. Never had any issues after some initial shake-outs (except hail that broke out the skylights). The reason we sold it? The floor plan no longer worked and we were becoming disenchanted with it, using it less and less. We realized we were simply uncomfortable in it because of the floor plan.

So now we've had our Outback for almost 3 years now, and absolutely love it. We had 1 initial problem that was fixed with warranty, no issues getting it fixed (drain problem in the shower), and the trailer has been trouble free ever since (except for stupid things I've done myself).

I'd purchase another Keystone product without hesitation, but only if it was brand new. I don't want to inherit someone else's abuse.

I bought a Keystone Montana new in 2007 and it has been as trouble free as I could have ever hoped. Don't know about newer models or different brands within the Keystone lineup.
