We're definitely in the stabilizer group and we have used a tri/bi pod. Just didn't work for us.
Another factor which I think was mentioned is what type of pin box you are going to have. If yours is coming with an "air ride" box, the tri pod will move up and down with it so it doesn't do much good.
Also depends on what type of RV'ing you are going to do. We are fulltimers and I want to feel no interior movement. If you are going to weekend it or go on short jaunts, a tri pod might work for you.
Also with the permanently installed stabilizers, you have nothing to put up, take down or store.
