Kingpin stabilizer

We used a tripod king pin stabilizer the 1st yr of our 5er. Then I installed JT Strongarms. Difference is night and day. Sold the tripod.

If you ever install a king pin like a MorRyde then the tri pod stabilizer won't work as well. I think an easy setup would be Bal Wheel chocks, and JT style stabilizers. You wouldn't need 4 arms on the front with the Bal chocks, just one diagonally in the front and rear.

My FW came with a pair. I really can't feel that they do anything. I don't bother locking them anymore.

Maybe I don't understand what bothers other people because I can't see (feel) the need.

Probably because you just have a pair - they should be front and rear. Also you might check to make sure you are loading them correctly. You can't just tight the bolts, you have to raise the landing gear to just under level, tighten the bolts, then continue raising the landing gear to put pressure on the rear and front JTs to make them work.

They made a world of difference for us on the last rig, and did better at stabilizing than our current 6 point leveling system.

I agree with atom ant. If you can shake a JT strut and it rattles then it is not doing any good. You must tighten the T handles and then raise or lower the jacks slightly to put pressure or tension on each strut to get the stabilization.

steadyfast system, gave away the kingpin stabilizer. friend has jt strongarms. we both like what we have.

I think ours helps tho it doesn't eliminate movement - I know it's a great safety devise that detours little ones and trips big ones if they aren't paying attention preventing head meets king pin campfire stories.

I have a two legged one, only because a friend gave it to me!

With so many of the trailers going to air and cushioned pin boxes they are going be gone from the market one of these days. If I got a new trailer I would opt for the 6 point leveling, Wiggle be Gone setup.

Chris , I added a set of JT's and never tossed the tripod in again.....I too would make sure the first option if I ever get new again is a 6 point system...but.. Then I have to add something to make momma's camping easier also ...:B.Joe

We're definitely in the stabilizer group and we have used a tri/bi pod. Just didn't work for us.
Another factor which I think was mentioned is what type of pin box you are going to have. If yours is coming with an "air ride" box, the tri pod will move up and down with it so it doesn't do much good.
Also depends on what type of RV'ing you are going to do. We are fulltimers and I want to feel no interior movement. If you are going to weekend it or go on short jaunts, a tri pod might work for you.
Also with the permanently installed stabilizers, you have nothing to put up, take down or store.
