Tried that once on a Memorial day weekend, didn't get much riding in.

They say this hot spell is going to hang around through the weekend, will be SCORCHING in the des.

Staying home and throwing a big party at our house :) We do one every Labor Day weekend. Holiday weekends here in CO are nuts for camping so even if we could get a reservation somewhere (booked 6 months in advance) the traffic is rough to deal with.

Either place you will have it all to yourself, too dang hot out in the desert until late October, for me anyway.
