I used 2"(I think) and it will hold me (210#) with no issues. Mostly for the kids though.

Actually, PVC (3/4" or 1") is incredibly strong, especially if cut into short pieces like you would for a ladder. Use some PVC cement for the joints, and you could easily have a pretty large adult on it without any issue.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner... this was how the one our Raptor was too. Our kids hated it, and I really hated having to climb in the loft at night to check on the kids. Some sort of medieval torture chamber ladder.

have been going to change it for years. the steps are small and bite into your feet. compound this with deep ribs to keep from slipping.

find one that is comfortable to step up and down on with bare feet:)

We ditched the ladder that came with ours and use a 4 step stool which I find handy for reaching the top cabinets as well. The ladder was a pain to deal with and we needed something to reach some of the cabinets anyway so the step stool works nicely for both needs.
