Largest spare item

So what is the largest spare item that you are hauling around?

Right now I have a new trailer axel in the basement along with everything else. One axel is bent from a severe dip in the road recieved some 10,000 miles ago. At under $150 a new one is cheaper than fixing the old. Just have to get it installed.

Also carrying around 2 complete bearing & brake drum units.

It is the cruising boater mentality of being prepared.

  • Maybe not the largest, but definitely heavy. I carry a 6 ton floor jack. If I have to change tire on the road I want to make it as easy as possible.

X-2 on carrying 2 spares. Doing this saved our hide twice on our last long (8000+ mile) trip. We left with brand new tires on 5V that was only 3 years old.

Got to Ogalala, Nebraska & had small leak. Found out that one of the factory mag wheels had a pin hole.

Boy, oh boy, was I glad I didn't have to go wheel shopping immediately for a spare.

75 miles north of Amarillo Texas, had a slow leak in another tire, there again, put 1 spare down, had another available spare to go until I got tire fixed, (had small hole in sidewall).
  • G-half woud likely say I'm the largest spare item in the camper. ;)

  • A complete spare toilet parts......everything but toilet bowl.
And that is because RV Shop had our model with a busted bowl sitting out by trash.
Asked them if I could strip it down....OKd so I took all the new/unused parts.

That was 5 yrs. ago. Still wrapped in plastic.

Just never really got into the 'carry spare parts'
    Murphy's Law....I wouldn't have what I needed
