leaking Dometic AC - condensation

Bedroom AC leaked water over night. Found a wet spot on bed cover beneath AC and drops of water were driping from the center of the unit. This has never happened, 5'er is one year old. Ambient temps outside were 65 deg / 100% humidity. This night is not much different than past nights. I clean the filters every 3 weeks, AC is only used daily from 6pm-5am, on low setting. Any ideas, suggestions for a fix?
  • When I had that problem it was a stopped up drain plan.
    Don
  • My front a\c unit did the same thing when humidity was extremely high. I keep the fan on high when it's like that and it's solved the drip problem.

Gee newman, boozecamp didn't state that he was having problems of reduced airflow or warm AC temperatures, he had water problems dripping from the ceiling.

I do believe that some folks are educated beyond their intelligence.
  • Great advice guys. I had the same problem with my Coleman Mach and found it was the pan drain plugged up. A wasp was building a next and evidently became wet and partially broke off and plugged the hole.
We keep our fiver slightly off level to force the condensation to run off to one side of the unit. The down side drain hold was plugged resulting in water inside on the center island.

It is a very simple fix, just take care and try to do it when it is cooler outside. Dang roof is HOT.
  • I had two Dometics dropping water into the camper. Found it to be cracked plastic drip pans under the evaporator. I cleaned the pan up real well and glued the cracks with E2000.
  • First of all the posts here are all valid. One night camping my dometic 11,000 btu penguin was dripping from the blower vent when I woke up and realized I left the fantastic vent open slightly over the dinette area. LOL... Shut it and no more condensation.
