Leather upholstery

Anyone, besides me, have an issue with all the leather upholstery the mfrs. are offering? Found a FW I really liked, but the sofa and the recliners are both only offered in leather. Dunno 'bout Indiana, but we have a thing down here in AZ called "swamp ass", and even at 8,000' in July/August, you can get a good sweat going sitting on leather, even in the shade. I can't imagine being =anywhere= south of the Mason-Dixon line in the summer, even in a campground, and sitting on leather. Just dumb they don't offer a cloth option. The whole durn line is the same way, too.

Youre still going to sweat whether on leather or fabric. But fabric soaks up the sweat, whereas with leather you can wipe it off with a towel. I much prefer leather, so much easier to maintain...

Fabric breathes, so I don't sweat nearly as much as on leather.

We bought ours a couple years back. We were able to swap out the "upgraded" leather in the Brookstone with fabric that was in other "lower level" Brookstones.

With cats, leather is not what we wanted (claws). Plus, I just don't find leather as comfortable as fabric. Guess it just comes from days riding in vinyl cars. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Give me fabric every time.

This is a Crossroads FW. The =only= thing they make with cloth is a park model; all other towables they make have leather seating.

Incorrect. 2011 Brookstones came with cloth and upgraded to leather.

  • We have leather in the house and the previous two fifth wheels. Worse than the heat is the cold, feels like I sat in a bucket of ice. Hate it! Thankfully the latest fifth wheel came with fabric. Don't get me started on those gawd awful stainless steel sinks you have to dry out to keep em from looking dirty they stick in these things. Glad our last one has acrylic.
  • I prefer fabric in the 5th wheel...canned both leather recliners and leather/fold out bed couch. Now all fabric...much more comfortable in the winter when it's cold and in the summer when it's hot....Got leather in the truck, but it has heated seats and a fan underneath to help cool when it's hot.....We have two dogs and a Dyson animal vac....zero issues and we're most comfortable no matter the temps:)
  • Our 2 cars have leather - hate getting in when I'm wearing short pants! Not as bad in winter for me, but wife hits the seat heater right away. Glad that our 5ver has cloth seating - as others have said, feels better in extreme temps.

TV has cloth - won't want leather in there either.

Sorry for not being clear. I'm talking 2014 models. And, yes, I went through each and every Crossroads model and all, but the park models, have leather seating with no option for cloth...that I could find. I also called the Cruiser division and talked to a very nice guy there and he confirmed this, to the best of his knowledge.

I want to avoid the hassle and expense of replacing something that I really shouldn't have to. I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet, so am hopeful that Cruiser will pull their heads out at at least offer a cloth option in the future. I flat-out told the guy I talked to there that it was a deal-killer for me but they =did= have a couple years to "correct" the issue. :-)

  • No worries.

And you are correct about 2014's. It's very tough to get anything in cloth, in any of the mid models from the entire RV industry anymore.
  • Funny thing, in our 5er we have cloth, at home we have leather. When I've been working outside, sweaty and tired I stick a towel on the leather as it is more comfortable. Next time we will fabric and since we have dogs it will match their fur color.

Obviously designed by people who never RV and sit in air conditioned offices all day long, assisted by old hippies experiencing acid flashbacks for design.
