Leather upholstery

Anyone, besides me, have an issue with all the leather upholstery the mfrs. are offering? Found a FW I really liked, but the sofa and the recliners are both only offered in leather. Dunno 'bout Indiana, but we have a thing down here in AZ called "swamp ass", and even at 8,000' in July/August, you can get a good sweat going sitting on leather, even in the shade. I can't imagine being =anywhere= south of the Mason-Dixon line in the summer, even in a campground, and sitting on leather. Just dumb they don't offer a cloth option. The whole durn line is the same way, too.

We have a dog so we have leather in the house because it's easier to clean. The car, pickup and excursion all have leather. The 2 recliners in the TT are leather but the cloth couch neads to be cleaned all the time. If the leather ever gets to hot we have AC.

Hard to have AC when you're boondocking and don't own a generator.

We bought ours a couple years back. We were able to swap out the "upgraded" leather in the Brookstone with fabric that was in other "lower level" Brookstones.

With cats, leather is not what we wanted (claws). Plus, I just don't find leather as comfortable as fabric. Guess it just comes from days riding in vinyl cars. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Give me fabric every time.

This is a Crossroads FW. The =only= thing they make with cloth is a park model; all other towables they make have leather seating.

  • Youre still going to sweat whether on leather or fabric. But fabric soaks up the sweat, whereas with leather you can wipe it off with a towel. I much prefer leather, so much easier to maintain...
  • We were thrilled at the chance to order leather recliners and couch in our new Brookstone. No more tacky fabric for us!

JMHO but I really feel that RV manufactures either don't care, are out of touch with what people need or have designers that have never camp in an RV. FWIW we upgraded our rear sofa with a syn leather theater seating. We just put a blanket on the sitting surface. That works in the cooler temps. We don't have the humid weather that other parts of the nation have, but there are times when it gets hot. Not sure what we'll do then.

I also think that a lot of the interiors are the product of old hippies suffering acid flashbacks. I know some of them give me a headache just looking at them.
