I towed a 27ft Eclipse Toy hauler loaded to 11k for years with my 2008 Tundra. The truck performed excellent 100% of the time, even when dip$hits cut me off and on a few occasions purposely got in front of me and slammed their brakes on. I towed it up the steepest grades in AZ in 120 degree heat on the way up to Roosevelt lake with it pinned to max RPS literally for 30 mins straight...truck is a beast. 115k on it and still feels as strong as it did on day one.

I always wanted a diesel so I also went and bought a 2012 Ram 3500. My Tundra out accelerated my 3500 pulling 10k for passing on freeway 70-80mph) and it somehow out pulls my 3500 loaded to 10k up hills. Don't get me wrong, the Ram stops better and generally tows better...but I was surprised how well the Tundra compares.

Over the years while towing my toy hauler to the dunes and lake literally 3 out of 4 weekends a year, I passed every make of truck out there, sitting on the side of the road broken down....but NEVER saw even one Tundra broken down.

Haters gonna hate...go ahead and flame me weight police and speed police and all around biased owners of Ford, Chevy and Ram...(even though the Tundra is more American made than all of these mfgs) But the Tundra is hands down the only choice for those who have to use a 1/2 ton to tow up to 11k.

My GL1800 is slightly less than 9' long. The XT276 has a 9' garage. Not enough wiggle room in my mind.

I have a 1500. It measures 8'7" so I should not an issue there.

I don't know if I would say haters gonna hate, what you are talking about is just not smart, towing 11k trailer doing 80mph in a truck over its towing capability. at least you never got in an accident, that would of been bad news for you. your toys and your responsibility. but at least you were smart enough to get the right truck for your trailer now.
I love the tundra but its just not built to tow the bigger trailers, people do it like you did, but its just not safe or smart. if they made an HD with a diesel I would get one over my chevy. even with the diesel that is suppose to be in them in 2016 there is no talks about them making a HD truck to go with the diesel.

Yes - the truck will move the trailer - your problem is the classic payload issue that plagues every 1/2 ton truck.

Your tongue weight should be between 10-15% of trailer weight, which will end up around 880 - 1320 lbs.

Depending on your truck's configuration, that gives you roughly between -100 and 600 lbs of payload in the truck for people and stuff. Yes, -100 because I have seen 1/2 ton trucks with a payload rating of 1200 lbs.

Toy haulers have a lot of weight behind the axles - this makes them more prone to sway and more sensitive to weight distribution (not just the bars - but placement and quantity of cargo including water and toys).

Oooohhh boy. Thats WAY TOO MUCH trailer for that truck. I have owned the following tow vehicles:
2005 Nissan Armada 4x4 towed our Warrior fs2300 superlite (barely)
2004 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4. Same trailer, towed worse than the Armada.
2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Same trailer and ended up a perfect tow vehicle for us.

Towing anything even close to 30 ft in lenth with a half ton is begging for a collision. Cant tell you how many times I've seen a large tow behind pass up its tow vehicle because the driver made a foolish decision based on the "tow rating" or what the salesman at the car lot told him when he was shopping for his tow vehicle (same for the RV salesmen that do the same).

Please, Please do not make this mistake..

I would look no larger than a 26' trailer for the tow vehicle in question.
