Most of the 'lite' 5th wheels have low CCC. By the time you load up your stuff your near the axle capacity. We have a so called 'lite' 5th wheel. It came with a 1385lb pin, UVW of 7185lb and 4315lbs for CCC per door sticker. With our B&W Patriot and just a few things in the truck bed were at 17-1800lbs on the pin. That's real close to the payload of most 76-7700lb GVW 1/2 tons. Now throw in 2 adults for another 300lbs and you're pushing 2-2100lbs on the rear. It's tough to find a 'lite' 5'er that has a low 'dry' pin weight. We are also at 8500lbs loaded and if we fill the fresh water tank it puts us at 9000lbs. You're really at the mercy of a few makers and floor plans. IMO there's a way bigger choice in TT's if you're wanting to tow 8-9000lbs. The problem with guys going to 5'ers with 1/2 tons is they limit themselves on what they can pack. Unless you get the F150 with the HD payload package which will add another 700lbs to the payload and gets you a payload rating of 2300+/-lbs. You'll find guys pulling 'lite' 5th wheels but almost all are right at or over the trucks RAWR unless they have the F150 with the HD package.
