Why, by all that is holy, do ovens light in the back? It makes it a two person ordeal. If the pilot was in the front, or even half-way it would make a lighting the oven a lot easier.

I cringe whenever she wants me to light the oven. She can't do it and I don't find it easy. Why do RV mfgs have to make some of these things so aggravating?

Yup. Two different TTs with ovens and both ovens takes 2 people to light. At lest the trailer I have right now lights a lot easier than my last one. It's still impossible to hold the fire and press the knob at the same time .... for one person ... Impossible!

What's so hard, the leaning in, or the actual lighting? Do you guys have to press a knob?I turn my gas on to about 200* and light 'er up.

It's clear in the very back of the bottom of the oven. If reaching clear in the back, it's all you can do. your face is actually inside the oven, and the weight of your body is over the open door, hoping and praying you don't break the door off.Then you have to reach up and turn the oven knob and hold it IN for a few seconds for the pilot to light. Once the pilot is on, it's ok, it's just that first time lighting it, or if you turn the oven completely off you have to relight the pilot. These ovens are not electronic or spark ignite. I got the igniter from Amazon and it had everything you needed. I took the burner out to drill it for part that sparked. That is the only hard part because you use the wires that are in the cooktop, just plug them to the new igniter.

Guess I just don't understand what is so difficult to be on knees, long handled lighter in left hand, right hand pressing oven knob. It seems some make RVing more difficult than it needs to be.

This may be an update as soon as I figure out how the insulation holds up to oven heat.

X27 on the always need 2 persons to light it. It has been the same with 5 Magic Chef and now Atwood.

My Atwood oven has a piezo electric lighter but only for the stove burners. Pilot inside is like others have said. One person kneels and reaches to back of oven while holding lighter and the other pushes the knob in. Could do it one person but its easier with two.
