There is a valve blade which attaches to end of pipe/sewer hose hook-up that adds an additional measure of protection against leakage. Our coach would do the exact same thing. Pop cap off and small amount of treated water (sewer) would exit. After I added the add'l valve, no more surprises when taking cap off.
