I do his too. My end cap has the hose adapter so I just remove that and the water goes down the stinky slinky. I also use the clear 45 degree adapter no surprises that way.
X3 - I've had 5 RVs over the years and they each seem to allow a different amount of seepage past the valve(s). I just open up the cap with the hose at the ready and the other end already in the opening at the campground.
