I would not call mine permanent. I just twisted it on as designed. But I was concerned that it could maybe rotate and be lost during travel. Probably would not, but it is rather large and heavy compared to the normal cap. So I placed a short sheet metal screw behind one of the twist-on ears, which you can see in the pic below. Easy to return to normal if I ever want to, but that valve ain't ever coming off by itself.
Great idea !! How did you seal it? with silicone, or is it short enough that it did not pierce into the inner wall>?
