The top lock has a master key. At the dealership I used to work at, they would only lock the top lock on the units at night. We each had a set of master keys. The bottom lock is the deadbolt. Maybe newer locks are different but I find this true even with mine. If you lock only one, lock the bottom. I also keep a spare key in one of the magnetic holders, but it is hidden where I can reach it in the truck. Lots of people use water heaters...LOL or LP storage area. Not good idea.

Exactly! going to get new locks I think. But, if our 1 key works for both the top and bottom lock, wouldn't his do the same??
