I have a 2007 Chevy 2500HD Classic diesel crew cab that has a short bed. When I bought my 5er in March, the salesman told me I did not need a slider hitch. Well, as they were maneuvering the trailer with my truck for delivery they turned too tight, and sure enough, it broke out my rear glass. The dealer fixed everything and installed a manual slider hitch for free. I have since added a used 5th Airborne/Sidewinder pinbox and traded the slider hitch for a Reese 15K hitch. The Sidewinder moves the pivot point back 22 inches from the hitch, so now I have the best of both worlds, because the 5th Airborne does a great job of smoothing out the chucking. In the camping we have done so far I have never needed to turn very tight, but it's nice to know I can if I need to.
