Next question about his tow vehicle?
  • take a look at axle sizes. many of that vintage were of the 5200 lb variety with 15 inch wheels. sometime in 2008 many manufacturers went to 16 inch wheels, and upgraded to 6k axles, or 7k axles.

  • What I actrully do for a living is owning 5 tire shops so tires are a must yes.. If there not new I will replace and prob do some fancy wheels lol.... A lot of new campers I did are over weighted right from the start... So tires are handled....

If there a company to inspect campers sort of like when buying a boat you can get a sea trial and survey????

I am so glad I joined this form cause every one is so helpful
  • we looked at both those units in that model year, and didn't like either TV location, we decided on an 2007 all amercian sport made by forest river, other than the decals peeling a bit, we love it, but replaced all 6 tires, and the battery right off the bat,
  • What truck do you have to tow with?

Check DOT code on tires.......4 digit. 1st two are week of year, last two are year (3711-----37th week of 2011)
Don't want them older than 3 yrs. Otherwise plan on replacements.
Check sidewalls for cracking....thread for uneven wear

    Roof..check caulking/seams for cracking
    Overall condition.....rips/tears/excessive staining/mold

Check outside walls/caps etc for spider webbing/cracking

    Check appliances.......turn them on

    Operate the different systems

    Check for soft floors

Check batteries....water levels, use a hydrometer and check each cell, cable conditions

Look over suspension components. Worn out bushings, flattened leaf springs/broken/cracked.
    Plan on replacing bearings.

Hold magnet next to each wheel low center of rim....have someone pull Emergency Brake Cable out of switch and check for needle on compass to divert.
