I wasn't suggesting you go with an open trailer I was just making conversation. What my wife and I did years ago was get a pop up p/u camper and pull the bikes on a trailer. We went that route because we could get a toilet,fridge,furnace and a comfy bed for about the same price as retrofitting a cargo trailer. But I see lot's of people doing what you're planning.Good luck and see ya on the road.
