Looking for feedback on a new toy hauler

I am looking to purchase a new toyhauler this spring. I have been looking for a long time and the more I look the more distracted I get. I am towing with a 2015 ram 2500 diesel. Because of this I want to stay at or below a 2500# pin weight. I know I want a separate garage. The 36'-38' length. The models that have stood out to me most and are in the right price range are the Torque and XLR. Any feedback on brands or suggestions would be great. I am located in Utah and would also like recommendations on local dealers.

  • 36-38' length with a pin weight under 2500lbs.....
    Ain't gonna happen.
My pin weight with an EMPTY trailer is more than 2500lbs..... and I have 0 slides.

My pin weight will full water and my toys is 3600lbs.
  • In gattorgetter's thread, I mentioned the Cougar SRX. A very nice hauler but the garage door is rather small. How big of a garage do you need and what will you be hauling?
  • Thanks for the feedback so far. I am curious if the v-nose on the XLR helps with turning radius as well. The alpine are nice but I need the full size garage. Any other brand or model recommendations. I am tryin to stay below $50,000?
  • cmeade speaks the truth. Hopefully most will stick to the topic.

Between those two, XLR hands down. Its Forest River's top of the line versus Heartland's third string. That being said, I'd rather have an XLR versus a Cyclone or Road Warrior. They are supposedly better than the Torque models but they still don't hold a candle to an XLR.

Plus, XLRs usually have lower pin weights than most others. Just make sure you get the pin actually weighed before you sign the paper.

Most of all, have fun shopping. We're doing the same right now and it can be stressful until you remind yourself of all the fun you're gonna have with it! :)
  • Warning you in advance..... many are going to say you need a 3500 for a 36' to 38'. But to help out with your question check out the Keystone Alpine 3900 with an 8' side garage. Looks like a compromise between luxury and toyhauler. My DW is against TH but I think this one might have been a contender.
