As far as the size restriction goes, yes it does matter. There are some SPs that say that they can't handle anything over 30' but most have a few longer spaces.
The fact is up to around the 35' mark most SPs can accomodate. The further past the mid 30s' mark you go, the fewer the sites available in SPs & NPs.
At model length 34, actual LOA at <36' & many many SPs in every state, we have seldom had a problem. Problems can arise if you arrive late at a self site choose CG & find that all of the long sites have been taken by tenters, class Bs, class Cs & small TTs. A larger unit cannot fit into sites that the smaller one can.
In a land where 'bigger is better' over 'quality in a small package' finding a smaller quality 5er is going to be a tough find.
