Looking to upgrade from current 37ft fifth wheel and considering a 42 ft but concerned about limiting access to campgrounds.

I think the cut off where you start losing access is around 25-30ft...that's where older public parks often peak in terms of what sites can accommodate.
Most parks that can accommodate 37ft can probably accommodate 42ft.
