Hey I saw a guy recently with 3" of bed clearance and he said he has never had a problem.
Well there is a "one time" for almost everything... but I've never even come close with this setup :-) . And like someone else stated, it's great having the space having underneath the box.
Bottom line it's nice to have options. I personally want a huge tool box and don't use my Dually for anything but towing or just driving around.
