No mystery...propane is heavier than air and collects in low places. Natural gas has a very small gas to air explosive point compared to propane and is lighter than air which allows it to dissipate. If I had a S&B, it would never again have propane...natural gas is much safer.
Knowing what we know now....I would not choose propane unless I had no choice...like in our RV. JMHO.
