lube plate size?

I am about sure it's very important!....but only to the guys selling them.

They are easy to cut if you have any kind of saw around. No need to return it or get a new one.

My lube plate has a "flat spot" where it broke off while hitching. A 10" would have been fine on my Companion, but I got the 12" 'cause I wasn't sure. C'est la vie...

With our mid-range 5r using a standard kingpin/box and a Reese 16K hitch, I use a 10" plate. Seems to work just fine. As the edges of the 10" sticks out a bit, I think the edges of the 12" would stick out too much and be susceptible to bending or breaking.

I would think the biggest that will fit without sticking out past the edges of your hitch plate.

If it sticks too far out the front of the pinbox, you are likely to break it when the pinbox is climbing the fifthwheel plate. So for that reason you don't want one that is too large. I don't see any harm in using a small one, so I think it is best to just stick with the smallest you can find.
