- KampingKrisExplorerWell, we rode the main roads in Alabama Hills. The BLM guy just waved although I think it's street legal only. Probably since we were staying on the main road decided it wasn't worth correcting us. We also did some touring behind the campground and into the hills. Not a bad place to spend a couple days.
- CamorhinoExplorerYep, just tried Google for Salt Tram, Reward Mine, and Cerro Gordo. All have a ton of info.
- CamorhinoExplorerStrabo, I'm not very techie, but if you Google Cerro Gordo Mine, I believe you'll come up with good info. Boulder Creek RV to the south of Lone Pine has good trails to there and the Salt Tram. There are also some sand dunes at the south end of Owens Lake. Mazurka Canyon is good with some side trails into some really cool mine sites, and there is a route to loop to the north and come down the valley floor from there. The Reward Mine is also a good trip. It is to the east of the Manzanar Internment Camp site on Manzanar Rd. off 395. If things haven't changed in a year, you could still enter the mine, but you know how things change.
- KampingKrisExplorerI think we're going to spend a couple of days at Boulder Creek... and ride from there. Sounds good! Would boondock, but then, the motorhome needs flat level roads...
- naytherExplorerCerro Gordo is worth the drive, really steep dirt road but the views are stupendous, rode up and over the pass from Death Valley a few years ago on a dual sport ride.

Kris, try Mazurka Canyon. Road turns off at the south end of Independence by the county road yard. There's some dry camping out to the east of the river by a nob hill that sticks up out there. From there pavement turns in to dirt road. You can easily spend a day or 2 there. If you need hook ups, hit Boulder Creek south of Lone Pine, and do the Salt Tram and Cerro Gordo Mine to the east of Owens Dry Lake. You can ride out of the RV park. You'll need the Swansea Road to hit the Salt Tram, and there is a major dirt road to Cerro Gordo to the south of that. Neat little museum you can tour at Cerro Gordo.

Anybody ridden at Alabama Hills
To my knowledge theirs no legal off roading there if your street legal you would need to stay on designated dirt roads. - KampingKrisExplorerAnybody ridden at Alabama Hills
