Manually Operating Landing Gear

I have a 2019 Forest River Salem Hemisphere 286RL. It has the Venture Electric landing gear. I can't figure out how to extend/retract the landing gear using the crank handle or any other manual method. There's no hole to put the crank handle through to connect to the motor shaft so am I missing something? What would I do if I had a wiring or battery issue and had to raise/lower the 5th wheel in order to hook up?
  • On my Jayco the crank attach point is in the propane storage bin. No hole on the outside.
  • Did your trailer come with a hand crank ? I Would think that you open the street side propane door to find the manual crank access point.
  • Thanks sayoung and filrupmark. It wasn't where the propane tanks are but I found it on the opposite side in the battery compartment. The reason I didn't find it sooner was they decided that was a convenient hole to put battery cables through for a second battery so it never dawned on me that was the hole for the hand crank to go through. I think I'll drill out a new hole for the battery cables and leave the crank hole available for what it was intended to be there for.

Sounds like some of that "quality build" we are always discussing here.
  • On my new Jayco they are independently operated manually. Each motor has an access on the top or bottom to fit a socket wrench on. There is a rubber cap over the bolt. I believe the top is a 3/4 socket and the bottom is 3/8.
