Max Air Smoke Vent Covers - How much light passes

I want/need to add vent covers to my new TH which as black covers on the air conditioners.
I don't want to use black as I don't want to block out the natural light from these.
Has anyone used the "smoke" color? It looks like these might be a good compromise of light and exterior aesthetics.
Thanks

  • They block out most of the light. I put one on the vent over our front living room as it was too bright for the kids in the morning. Did help keep the temperature down under the cover. Will probably swap out the one over the bathroom soon.
  • It makes a big difference if you are traveling to real warm states in the summer time.

I had a vent cover get ripped off during a storm and needed emergency repair. All the guy had was a white one. Didn't care I just needed the rain to stop coming in ASAP!

Fast forward a year and didn't think about the replacement vent until I was down in Florida during summer and wondered why it was so unusually hot mid ship in my MH. That is where the white vent cover was. So I know the smoke ones do prevent a lot of heat from coming in.
  • I would compare them to the tinted windows in the rear of an SUV. They let light in, but block some. I don't recall seeing any powered vents that didn't have darkened covers.
  • I had the smoke color installed on my MH. Not much light comes through. I also didn't want black or the white. I still think the smoke looks better and matches the A/C etc.
