The thing that really irks me on freeway on-ramps is "WEAVE" signs. Engineers that design on-ramps that require those signs should be shot. You end up with vehicles that are attempting to accelerate to highway speeds trying to merge with vehicles trying to deceletate to 25 mph ramp speeds. Merging accelerating vehicles with decelerating vehicles defies the laws of physics.
Yep, I agree 100%. You don't see them all over, probably because they are so dangerous. You are right, what were they thinking? Another, slightly off-topic area of concern that they are rapidly expanding here in central Indiana is the traffic circle (or as the Brits say, "round-about). I an unnerved in an auto, and I would hate to have to maneuver my 57' RV/TV around one without killing anyone!
I felt the same way and then they built one a short distance from our place and I need to use itno matter where I am going with the Rv.I too am in the 50 ft area. I like its as it so easy to do without any problems at all just be alert. It used to be sometimes it took a couple of minutes at least to get away from the stop sign.I now slow down when approaching and take my turn turn in the mixmaster and out we go. I talked to the contractor as it was being built and he assured me that the center concrete was designed for lots of weight for like semis and such.I just let my left wheels follow that line and drop out wherever I need to get to my destination! They are fast and friendly to use...JMhO Jb - Pete_kExplorerRead this page good into. Merging into traffic But Always remember the road traffic has the right of way. Not you on the merge lane.
Pete - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIThe best thing anyone can do is replace their regular tail lights with LED lights you will be amazed at how much better people will see you and move over.
I bought the Bargman replacement LED light assembly from tweets.com and could not believe how people started to move over or let me in when I was signaling!
My current Mobile Suites came with LED from the factory, love them. - Water-BugExplorerJust love on ramps that have you merge into the left lane. Had one in Sacremento years ago, while pulling a large boat. Even though I had my right turn signals on, I couldn't get out of the left lane for over 5 miles. Traffic just kept passing me on the right.
- John_I_HaggertyExplorer"...drive it like you stole it...
- B_O__PlentyExplorer III like to creep down the ramp with a long line of cars behind me. When I get the freeway I often stop and wait for a space big enough to fit into. Sometimes the people behind me get impatient and blow their horns but I want to do this safely. As soon as I can get on the freeway I move all the way over to the left lane and stay there. This is driving Minnesota style!
B.O. - jake2250ExplorerAs you come out of the apex of the ramp, Roll on the throttle and get up to freeway speed as quickly and safely as possible, have turn indicator on to indicate your intentions.
Don't hesitate, don't be afraid,Don't force freeway traffic to break for you entering the freeway!!
If it is only two lanes I would try to move over to the fast lane and allow vehicles to merge onto the freeway at speed, then move back over to allow them to pass..
Nothing more aggravating than some one merging onto the freeway at 40 mph!! then taking another mile or so to get up to speed!!! Stand On It!!!! - wandering1Explorer

What method do you use to enter an interstate from the on ramp to merge with traffic when towing?
YIELD, YIELD, YIELD, and merge when there is plenty of room between you and the oncoming traffic, you do not have the right of way and the traffic on the hiway is not required to slow down so you can enter the hiway. - GMT830Explorer

I do like most of the other drivers, keep on texting and merge and hope the horns from the traffic doesn't make me spill my coffee or drop my sandwich.:B
At least we have auto-correct now which certainly makes texting and driving easier/safer - nelsbellsExplorerI had (sold it last week) a 06'Dodge CTD and towed a 36' Carriage. It was heavy so when i merged on to a freeway i always enetered as fast as i could(with in limits), put on my hazzard lights and got in to traffic asap. I did not ride the shoulder until i was up to speed as i have seen a lot of rv'ers do. There are a lot of idiots out who just won't move over so ofcourse they will show you ther age but hey if there that stupid then why are they on the road in the first place.
Hope you enjoy your RV.
