Extra siping is not necessarily a good thing for the trailer tire. It will cause the tire to grip the pavement too much in tight maneuvers, putting extra strain on the suspension components and try to rip the cap off the tire carcass. Also can lead to tread squirm.

The breaks in the outer ribs are also not the best for a trailer tire.

I heard the R250 will be discontinued. Replaced with an R238. Same casing diffrent tread pattern.

I have XPS ribs on my 5'er and after 4 years look like new. However, on two of my tow vehicles I've been running M/S or M/S2's for years. Had great experience with them until the last set on each. After 4 years, 50,000 miles both sets have dry rotted bad, side walls and tread. Two blow outs so far. Michelin recalled some for this issue but mine aren't included and Michelin has said tough luck. Not sure I'll go with Michelin for next set.

I'm currently running BFG Commercial T/A 2 tires on mine and I'm extremely pleased with how the trailer tracks and how cool they stay on extended highway runs.

Discount tire in Hillsboro should have my Yokohama YK-HTX in this week, hopefully will get them installed on Saturday.
They are made in the Philippines, not the first foreign tire I have bought. The first Michelin's I owned in 69, were from France.

No steel carcass, but a very good LT tire.

Americas tire showed me a web link that said the R250 are not really for cold or wet weather. is it possible they could not have good traction on water.

Other than the cost the XPS Rib and R250 are similar. I ran the Ribs for 6.5 years and 40 some thousand miles and sold them for 200 bucks on CL. I install R250's based on the lower cost and run them for 4 years before sell the trailer.

As far as quality, I would give the R250 a slight edge.

Michelin XPS Rib

We run Michelin on the truck and R 250 on the fiver. I would wait if all possible. I Don't think the Yokohama is a steel carcass like the Ribs or 250's.
