Moderator hurt

Dedmiston went and did it this weekend, per his facebook page broke his Tibia Friday in the desert. Get well soon Dave, bummer to get hurt so early in the desert riding season. Guess you'll be driving the lawn chair at future campouts.

  • Here's my motto:

You don't stop riding because you get old, you get old because you stop riding.
  • Hole = small depression... But the man had a ride to do and he stepped, I mean limped up and rode with his big boy panties...

It couldn't have been less glorious if I'd been beat up by a Brownie scout.

I was setting up camp on Friday night and tripped in a hole that a previous camper had dug and didn't fill.

I knew something was probably wrong because I heard a snap. I didn't think it was broken though.

So we camped and rode and had a grand ol' time all weekend. Then I went back to work yesterday. Half way through the day I decided I'd better get it looked at and went to urgent care.

The doc at Urgent Care said it wasn't a sprained ankle, but a broken leg. Then today I saw a specialist who told me in so many words that I get extra credit, because it's a bad sprain AND a broken tibia. Yay me.

So I get this cast for the next three weeks. They'll change it out and we'll talk about the plan after that.

Fill your holes when you pull out of camp. You never know when a fool like me will stomp through camp and do a brodie in the hole you dug to level your rig.

you sure are a tough SOB Dave!! Kudos though, way to ride the weekend out and not let a little sprain and broken tibia ruin your weekend. :C :B

  • I sold my bikes for a Polaris RZR! It's a whole lot easier on the body!
  • Dave's getting a 4 wheeler!

Get well Dave, hope you're doing ok.
  • Hey Dave,

Be careful with your Bod. Your Dad and I only hurt our heads after too many cervesas.

  • Although I would love to go back to dual sport and ride like I did 30 years ago, I know errors will take much longer to heal than in the past. With heavy traffic and distracted drivers, I have even considered giving up my sport tour bike.

They say "with age comes a cage" and I'm beginning to agree with that. I hope Dave heals up quickly to ride again.
  • Once he got into his '60s these things started happening, didnt he burn his ring finger off last month?
