Lowest setting full forward with straight side of hitch head support arms towards the cab. I have 6" 0f bed clearance and a level RV with air bag a little low.
I wound up over the axle (1 set of holes back from full forward) on the lowest setting. I started in the middle of the vertical adjustment, but I was just a tad nose-high with a ton of overhang to bed rail clearance. So, I dropped it to the lowest setting.

I would go full forward that way some weight will transfer to the front axle. What you did will work.
