What a waste of money
I totally disagree about purchase of "Mountain Directory West being a waste of money." It is very valuable in planning a trip BEFORE leaving.
I agree. It's extremely valuable in knowing what to expect. Most often we find it's not as bad as noted, but could be because we were not surprised and planned for it. This is one book that goes with us always.
I bought one because every one said you need it. I looked at it and had a few good laughs about some of the road I had traveled on several times tossed it a box somewhere
