Hummmm, Well I have the tow/haul on our F250 and I would only use it in a single gear when descending a grade on icy or snowy roads. If you lose traction then you could pretty much become a bob sled with no control. If you want to use the breaking power of the engine when decending a grade then shift into the gear you want to use at the top of the hill and stay in that gear all the way down the grade. It is the shifting down that can bite you in the behind.
